Brent Bassham Guitar Concert

Refusing to be pigeon-holed and being somewhat of a wild card as far as "classical guitarists" go, Brent Bassham is constantly pushing the boundaries as one of the most exciting young concert guitarist today. 

His performances are not just for the classical musical connoisseur because he includes popular music in his programs.  With interests as varied as jazz, country, flamenco and rock, Bassham's performances evoke the spirit of a "one man band," presenting his audience the illusion of an ensemble. His current repertoire includes pieces ranging from Irish and Scottish folk, American greats Scott Joplin and Chet Atkins, to the international works created by The Beatles and Spanish guitarrista greats,  including the mighty Gran Jota, a piece that exploits every sound the guitar can make including the snare drum of a marching band alongside a seamless and playful melody.  

       Recently, Brent has turned his attention to incorporating more American music into his program including that of jazz-fusion guitarist Ralph Towner, "King of Ragtime" Scott Joplin, and the cinematic orchestrations of Elmer Bernstein.  Noting the relative lack of American music performed on the classical guitar, Brent Bassham aims to celebrate, with the support of his audience, the wonderful array of our homeland's composers.
